Prenuptial Prep
You’ve been planning your wedding for months (if not years) and the day finally arrives. It can be incredibly overwhelming and one heck of a hectic day! It’s likely that at some point the day will get out of your control and there’s not much you can do about it. The best thing you can do is to relax, go with the flow, and be as prepared as you can.
There are some small things you can prepare in advance that will help keep you calm and feeling in control on your wedding day.
#1 A Shawl or Cardigan: Sure, it may sound like your Mother’s saying it – “bring a sweater!”. But, it turns out Mothers know what they’re talking about! Wedding dresses are gorgeous but not necessarily built for comfort or warmth. When the initial excitement and adrenaline of the day wears off you may be glad to have something warm and cozy to wrap around you (aside from your new spouse, of course).
#2 Extra Lipstick: Of all the makeup, lipstick is the first to wear off – especially on your wedding day. With all the kissing, toasts, eating and chatting it’s inevitable your lipstick will begin to wear off. When you’ve initially chosen your lip colour set some aside and keep it for the day. That way, you can reapply without worry you’re mixing colours or changing your look.
#3 Water Bottle and Granola Bar: It’s important to remember that your wedding day is a marathon, not a sprint. It will be a busy day and sometimes it can be a long wait until any food appears. It’s easy for Brides to forget to eat or drink. You want to stay hydrated and keep your blood sugar up – can’t have the Bride fainting in the middle of her pictures.
Worried about carrying all of this stuff? That’s what your wedding party is for! Talk to your attendants before the day and decide who will be looking after what.
These preparations may not stop your uncle from giving an embarrassing toast, but they will certainly help you feel more relaxed while it’s happening!
